Breath of Fall.

A soft pink petal falls slowly to the ground.

My shaking fingers pluck it from the grass and gently caress it as if it once drew breath.

The wind sings a final gusty note of a song that has long played for the world.

Eyes scan the scene that was once a brilliant and fiery red sunset over the plains of the heart.

However the dull stain of milky blue washes over the land.

Once soft pink petals now ashen in appearance and abrasive in texture, fall now like waves of dead snow.

And as twilight settles again on this heart, so too does the land grow dark.

The Devil Walking.

The Devil doesn’t wear a black suit with slicked back hair. The Devil isn’t a red monster with horns. He wears jeans and baggy sweaters. He is a butcher and surgeon.

The Devil is sleep deprived sex appeal, with “I just woke up” hair tousled to one side. It’s French Vanilla coffee breath and a cigarette hanging low from the mouth. He’s fresh cologne and a tooth brush in hand. He’s yawning to reveal his happy trail and a tattooed left arm stretched towards the sky.

The Devil isn’t evil, but he is bad. He’s bad for you. He is the heart breaker and the rose tinter. He will end you with just one look and keep walking until he finds his true Queen.

Uncle.

Ever since I was small, you have always been there. Year after year, you never missed a Christmas and you never missed a birthday. You were always here to make sure I’m okay and to talk for hours. Every time I would get to see you, you never knew how much I didn’t care about leaving to play games. But rather just sit with you and talk, because to you I was never just some kid. I was your family and you treated me like an adult. Your stories were legendary and always made me laugh, the tales of my parents before they were my parents gave a whole new romance to the one I’ve always known. I will always love and look forward to our 2 a.m. talks. Blood is not the only thing that makes people family. Love, loyalty, respect and caring is what makes you and I family. I love you Uncle, I always have and I always will.

Ode to Rydus

As I look around this room now,

I do not see the friends that I met years ago.

No, I see brothers.

I see sisters.

I see parents.

We have all become this great big family that no casting mold could have ever held.

We are all doing our own things with the people we love, and doing all those amazing things on our own time.

So even though I may not see you all as much as I would like.

Just know that no matter where you all are or what you’re doing.

That you have a brother here who

supports you. Who is proud of you. And who loves you.

I Am Me.

I am Prideful.

I am Promising.

I am Strong.

I am a Slave to No Man.

I have put the gun to my head and set it back down.

I am half a pack of cigarettes and a bottle of whiskey.

I am a silent lullaby in a dark room.

I am the glow of a computer screen.

I am Growing.

I am an Uncle.

I am not Sorry.

I am a Wish in a Fountain.

I am a Bouquet of Flowers and a Pushed in Chair.

I am the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

I am Odin and Thor.

I am Wod├źn.

I am me… and that’s okay.
